Emily's River Birch Tree
- it grows 40 to 70 feet high
- it is an oval shaped tree
- the flowers on the tree bloom from April to May
- the flowers are brown or green
- the River Birch is one of the 12 kinds of birch trees
- it can stand when it is really wet or really dry
- some people also call it Red Birch
- it grows on long banks of rivers, ponds, and marshes
- the young River Birch has pink bark
- when it gets older it turns almost black
- it is the only typical birch in the south
- its bark is used as paper
