Media Center Philosophy

The Britt Elementary Media Center houses a collection of print and non-print resources to support the GCPS curriculum and AKS. Our goal is to provide teachers and staff with the instructional materials to successfully provide instruction and learning activities necessary for student achievement.
Also, for students, we strive to encourage and promote reading, develop the skills necessary to access information and to foster a love of lifelong learning.

The Britt Media Center is open each and every day of the school year during school hours.

Media Center Policies

Students in kindergarten, first and second grades are allowed to check out one book at a time. Third, fourth, and fifth grade students are allowed
to check out two books at one time. The check out period is two weeks, and students are allowed to renew books. Students may use the Internet in the media center but they must have a signed AUP form on file with the Technology Coordinator and bring an
Internet pass from their teacher with the specific website listed on the pass.

Students who keep library books beyond the due date will receive an overdue notice. Overdue notices are printed and distributed to teachers once a week. These notices are sent home with students, usually in their Friday folder. Students who have lost a library book are expected to pay for a replacement copy in a timely manner. Replacement costs of books range from $5.00 to $20.00 depending on the book.
